KLEİTE DERESİ

Antik şehrinin kalıntıları arasında iki ayrı su kaynağı bulunmaktadır. Bunlardan birisi Kleite adı verilen ırmaktadır. Amfiteatr yıkıntısının hemen ortasında geçer. Efsaneye göre Kraliçe Kleite genç kocası Kral Kyzikos’un ölümü ile derin acıya boğulmuş ve o kadar çok ağlamıştır ki gözyaşlarından Kleite deresi oluşmuştur. Diğer bir efsaneye göre ise Kral Kyzikos’un ölümünü duyan kraliçe üzüntüsünden kendini asmış ardından ağlayan perilerin gözyaşlarıyla Kleite deresi oluşmuştur.

KLEITE STREAM  

 There are two different story about this stream flowing for thousand years through the ruins of amphitheatre where the great and deadly games were performed in the ancient times.According to the first legend ,the stream was formed with the eye tears of queen Kleite who is the wife of King Kyizikos killed accidently in a night sea battle by his own soldiers. The other legend is a bit different, short after the death of king Kyzikos ,with a deep sorrow his wife, Kleite ,committed suicide and by hanging, she killed herself. The fairies eye tears for Kleite formed the stream.
